The triangular island of Zakynthos is the most southerly of the Ionian Islands group and one of most well known and popular tourist destinations in Greece. Also know as Zante, Zakynthos is a verdant island endowed with fertile valleys and a temperate climate. The diversity of the landscape ensures a variety in types of beach on offer. Sandy beaches in secluded coves where the tranquil waters are deep blue can be found in the south east while rugged cliffs and an interesting underwater world can be found in the west.
Sami can be found on the east side of the popular island of Kefalonia (or Cephalonia as its also know) in the Ionian Island region of Greece. Sami is set in a wide bay with a long tree-lined waterfront and wonderful views across to the island of the neighbouring island of Ithaca. The beautiful coastal town of Sami is around 24 km east of Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia and provides the island with its second largest port with numerous crossings on offer. The modern village is built close to ancient Sami, one of the most important archeological discoveries of Kefalonia.
