Surrounded on three sides by the crystalline blue North Atlantic sea and just a few miles from the popular Disney resort island of Castaway Cay, this rapidly-growing settlement is a popular destination for tourists hankering for tropical weather and velvet white beaches. Ferries from Sandy Point are very limited. A single service provided by Bahamas Ferries leaves the port once a week to the Bahaman capital of Nassau, a relatively short trip down the western edge of the archipelago. The port itself consists of a concrete pier from which passengers can board incoming ships, but no other facilities can be found on-site. Those driving to the port can follow the arcing Great Abaco Highway that covers most of the Island, from Coopers Town in the north to Rocky Point in the south.
