What is there to do in Noumea?

Like most major cities located near the sea, Noumea offers beautiful views as well as all the fun and excitement expected from every capital. Top of the itinerary for most tourists is the Amedee Lighthouse Island; tour guides offer a day out that’s ideal in sunny conditions and provides a delicious lunch buffet. Continuing the nautical theme, the Aquarium des Lagons Nouvelle Caledonie is highly regarded as the perfect way to while away an afternoon with the family. Away from the water, Noumea is famous for the array of bars, shops and restaurants littered around the city centre. Streets are lined with laid back bars adjacent to upmarket yet affordable restaurants laying on the street corner – Noumea is a city that, quite simply, has everything. After indulging in delicious local cuisine and perusing the shops for authentic clothing, the Tjibaou Cultural Centre offers a fascinating insight into the unique history and tradition associated with the island.

How do visitors get around Noumea?
