Marseille, European Capital of Culture in 2013, is one the most visited city's of France. As the city history has always been linked with the Mediterranean area, Marseille ferry port is the biggest commercial port of the Mediterranean Sea. Ferry departures to Corsica, Sardinia and the North African coast (Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia) are from the Grand Port Maritime in Marseille. The ferry port is very well connected by the A7 and A55 motorways. In Marseille you'll feel the Mediterranean atmosphere. From the Notre Dame de la Garde basilica you'll enjoy a impressive view of the city and the nearest islands (Iles du Frioul).
The Moroccan port of Tangier Med is located around 40 kilometres east of Tangier ville and is one of the biggest ferry ports in Africa. Tangier Med connects Morocco with the South and east Mediterranean coast of Spain, the south of France and the northern Italian coast. When it launched in 2007, almost all of the ferry services were transferred from the existing port in Tangier Ville to the new facility at Tangier Med. Geographically closer to the ferry ports it connects to than the port at Tangier ville, Tangier Med is also well connected to the national motorway network. As a relatively new and therefore modern port, it is well equipped to receive both tourist and commercial traffic.
