Koge Guide

Koge Ferry Port

Officially regarded as one of Denmark’s oldest ports, Koge Port lies around 40 km to the southwest of Denmark’s capital city of Copenhagen. The natural harbour previously sat further inland, though it’s slight geographical change hasn’t impacted the volume of passengers passing through the port. Further growth in traffic is expected in the coming years as the popularity of the port continues to increase. Maritime activities have existed around the port for several hundred years, making Koge Port one of the most internationally recognised areas of fishing heritage. The prominent ferry route from Koge Port is to the Danish Island of Bornholm, lying in the Baltic Sea just off the Swedish mainland. The crossing runs daily and typically lasts close to six hours; BornholmerFaergen provide their services for the sailing, offering food and drink for passengers. Whilst at the port of Koge, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the modern facilities on offer; restaurants, cafes and shops are all available during the day to relieve boredom before a departure. The port is easily accessible via the motorway from major cities such as Copenhagen and Rodby. For passengers already staying in Koge, there are several specialist shops in the city centre and a conveniently placed bus service running to and from the port.

Ronne Guide

Ronne Guide

Ronne is a town in Denmark on the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. About 8-900 years ago, ships could anchor relatively safely between two reefs, which are situated in the sea north and south of Ronne. Here, the harbour and the town sprung up. The oldest part of the harbour is the idyllic Sdr. Badehavn just beneath the St. Nicolai Church. In the 13th century, a summer chapel was built on the hill above the coast. As a provincial town, Ronne is at least 675 years old and today, the town is the trade and administrative centre as well as the centre for public service with hospital and casualty ward, police station, court, upper secondary education and a technical and vocational school. In Ronne you can find fish industry and several other industrial enterprises, which are among the leaders on the world market within their field.
