Widely regarded as Italy’s major seaport on the Mediterranean Sea, the quays of the passenger terminals at Genoa Port extend over an area of 250,000 square metres. The cruise and ferry port is within walking distance of the city centre of Genoa, which has recently been dubbed as Italy’s most underrated city. Around the terminals there are marinas of varying size and structure, some including elegant restaurants and well-priced bars. The entire harbour offers picturesque views ideal for a leisurely stroll. The harbour holds four main entrances, stretching for a total 22km along the coastline, demonstrating the sheer size of the port. There are various ferry companies that provide ferry routes from Genoa Port, all of which offer excellent on-board service; there will be an opportunity to book comfortable beds for a good night’s sleep for the longer crossings. The port offers sailings to eight different ports in seven different countries, with the mass of land covered it has become one of the widest ranging ports in the world. There are popular excursions within close proximity of Genoa Port, including diving and snorkelling opportunities. The harbour is famously easy to find – it possesses two tall lighthouses which are visible from several miles away, especially at night where they shine across the shore.
