The Ferry Terminal which was built in 1965, to accommodate rising passenger numbers is located on the near side of Douglas port, closer to the promenade and provides the main hub for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company car and passenger ferry connections with ports in the UK and Ireland. Douglas is the main port of the Isle of Man and features the most extensive facilities for both commercial and private ships. The port is also the only Manx port with dedicated passenger handling facilities for multiple types of ferry.
