Diafani to Karpathos Ferry Most Popular Questions

Diafani Guide

Located on the Greek island of Karpathos, the second largest of the Dodecanese group of islands in the Aegean Sea, is the town and port of Diafani. Karpathos lies roughly 50 km to the south west of the island of Rhodes in the part of the Mediterranean Sea called the Carpathian Sea. There are 11 villages on the island, one of which is Diafani which is located in the north of the island. The island is characterised by rugged mountains in the north and fertile fields in the south with an abundance of flowers in the winter and spring months. Visitors to the island can find amazing beaches, sometimes without crowds, nestling between the island's craggy cliffs.

The island has managed to retain its charm mainly because of its relatively remote location. The island has managed to preserve many of its traditional forms of dress, customs and dialect.

Karpathos is connected to neighbouring islands and to the mainland by ferry. The ferries provide transport to and from Piraeus, via Crete and Rhodes.

Karpathos Guide

The Greek island of Karpathos lies in the Aegean Sea and is the second largest of the Dodecanese group of islands. The island sits between the neighbouring islands of Crete and Rhodes and is widely regarded as being one of the most spectacular of all the Greek islands. Unlike many of its neighbours, and probably as a result of its relatively remote location, Karpathos only began to develop in the last couple of decades. However, the development that has taken place is largely restricted to the southern parts of the island. The northern and central parts of the island have retained their authenticity and are largely unspoilt, with pretty little villages that seem miles away from tourism. Perhaps the island's most famous features are its beaches with golden sand and crystal clear waters. The island is popular with families and also with hikers who like to explore the many trekking paths that criss cross the island.

Ferries from Karpathos depart to the ports of Piraeus, Rhodes, Heraklion, Milos, Anafi, Sitia, Santorini, Chalki and Kasos.
