The Italian city and port of Brindisi is located in the Apulia region of the country and lies on the Adriatic Sea coast. The city's large natural harbour is one of Italy's most important ports and is today the port of departure for ferry services departing to the Balkans and to Greece, although in Roman and Greek times and during the Middle Ages the port had many other purposes.
