Barefoot Manta Island Guide

Barefoot Manta Island, known traditionally as Drawaqa Island, lies in the Southern Yasawa Islands of Fiji. This island paradise is surrounded by some of the most spectacular coral gardens in the Fijian isles. The island is encircled by stunning beaches and Sunrise Beach offers the ideal spot to climb into a hammock and watch the beautiful sunrises bounce of the crystalline water of the Pacific Ocean.

The narrow inlet between the island’s Manta Ray Beach and the neighbouring Naviti Island provides a favourite feeding ground for indigenous reef Manta rays. The combination of magnificent marine life and exquisite coral makes this resort a Valhalla for scuba divers and snorkelers. Low tides also offer visitors who want stay above the water’s surface a chance to explore. Visitors can admire coral in the reef shallows, delve into rock pools and take an inquisitive look at the native ecosystem.

The port is situated at the northern tip of Drawaqa Island. There are seven weekly sailings from Barefoot Manta Island to the port of Denarau, a small harbour in the northwest corner of the Fijian mainland with the journey taking three hours. Denarau is the gateway to beautiful islets all along the northwest coast.
