The island of Alonissos can be found in the Northern Sporades region of Greece in the Aegean Sea. Ferries arrive and depart Alonissos from the port of Patitiri on the south east of the island. Connections include crossings to Agios Konstantinos and Volos on the mainland as well as the islands of Skiathos and Skopelos.
Found on the south east coast of Greece, Mantoudi is a tiny village with a population of just under 2000 people. There is very little crime in the area, so anyone can feel safe whilst walking along the rugged coastlines. For a spot of culture, it is worthwhile visiting the Monastery of Galataki for a taste of traditional values belonging to Mantoudi. A nun will often provide a tour of the remarkable building; a highlight for many visitors is the courtyard which exudes an enticing scent from the abundance of beautiful flowers blooming around the vicinity. For a real immersion into the lifestyle, travellers are invited to spend a night in the dorms situated inside the building. It is possible to cover the entirety of the village by foot in just a day, so getting around Mantoudi is not a problem.
