The port of Almeria is a busy ferry port in the region of Andalusia on the south east coast of Spain. Almeria port is located in the centre of the city and offers several crossings each day to destinations in Morocco, Algeria and Melilla. The main terminal building has the offices of all the ferry companies operating services there and is open 24 hours a day. Until recently, Almeria was not as well known to tourists as the likes of Malaga, Sevillle, and Granada, but this is starting to change and growth as a major holiday destination is evident.
Melilla is situated on a Spanish enclave on the North African coast. The ferry port of Melilla provides daily connections to Spain (Motril, Malaga and Almeria). Melilla and Ceuta are two permanently inhabited Spanish cities in mainland Africa, they share a border with Morocco. Many people travelling between Morocco and Europe use the ferry links from Melilla.
