BornholmerFærgen is a Danish ferry company operating between Germany, Denmark, Sweden and the Danish island of Bornholm.

The Bornholm ferry service has been around for more than 140 years, with the main aim being to provide transport for passengers, mail and goods to and from the island of Bornholm for the greatest possible benefit of the Bornholm community. It's worth noting that the name of the company changed to BornholmerFærgen from Bornholmstrafikken, in 2010.

Often nicknamed ‘Denmark’s pearl of the Baltic Sea’, the beautiful island of Bornholm is easily reachable with BornholmerFærgen, and whether you call it the sunshine isle or the rocky isle, Bornholm offers a wealth of unique experiences not to be missed.

Although relatively small, the 3-strong fleet consists of comfortable and modern ferries named Villum Clausen, Povl Anker and Hammerodde. Aboard each vessel are well-equipped shops, a bistro-style restaurant and children’s play areas, as well as stylish cabins which are available for the longer crossings.

  • "A lovely island"

    It was very easy to book via internet but impossible to reach anyone on the phone. The check in via the ticket machines was also good, it was possible to get help with rebooking as well if there was space. Bornholm as an island is wornderful and should be visited by more Swedes. It is relatively expensive to do the crossing with a camper as we did though, almost 4000 SEK which is probably a reason to some people not going. If you are a senior it's half price apparently, that seems more reasonable. The crossing is fast and you have time to both eat and do some shopping. No red sausages on the ferry will make the grade go down a little but though, but we made up for it on the island.

    We are very surprised by how smooth and easy everything has been. The treatment and the guidence from the nice staff at the port and on the ferry makes the trip so much more fun. Not crowded, plenty of space between the vehicles and so on makes the journey a pleasure. We will be back!
